17" Laptop Sleeve

Having a large 17 inch laptop is great because it allows you to be mobile and at the same time be big enough to easily read.  However one of the problems when you take your computer is around is the problem of getting it scratched or just dropping it.  Fortunately there is 17" laptop sleeve systems on the market today. 

There are alot of different types of 17" laptop sleeves on the market today, from the executive to the wild teen.  Usually, no matter what you choose these laptop sleeves will not cost you an arm and a leg.  There are some points you should consider before figuring out which 17" laptop sleeve that is perfect for your lifesyle.

17" laptop sleeves come in many types of materials based on your needs.  The most common types of materials are vinyle, leather,  suede and cotton and neoprene.  If you want to go for the executive look than leather is the way to go.  But note this, leather is not the most durable material and will break down over time.  Likewise with vinyl which most important characterisitic is that it is usually the cheapest, but don't expect these to last a long time.  Suede and cotton tend to be more durable than vinyl and you can wash them in a washing machine.  But after a while these will also break down.  Neoprene is more durable than the other previous materials mentioned, is waterproof, lightweight and will hold up for years.

One thing many people fail to consider when getting a 17" laptop sleeve is if it can close.  Most sleeves do not have a fastener and can slip out if you are careless.  The first, and best type of fastener is a zipper which will hold up under almost any condition.  The other type of fasteners are velcro and a snap.  These are better than nothing, however because pressure is on just one point can open up under extreme conditions.

Now because a 17" laptop sleeve is big, make sure that the sleeve you buy is big enough.  Sometimes when you are at a computer store they will sell a one size fits all sleeve.  Well because your laptop is bigger than most the sleeve may not fit.  So make sure you look at the label and see it says it fits.  If you are shopping on the internet than make sure under description it has the same language that it will accomodate a 17 inch laptop.

Some of the aesthetic and less important aspects are color and design.  If you are going for leather than the colors and designs will be limited.  For the rest of materials such as neoprene, vinyl, cotton and suede the colors and designs are limitless.  The most serious person and the zaniest person can find their exact style.

There are many factors you need to consider when buying a 17" laptop sleeve.  But understand, beyond all the aesthetic aspects--it must satisfy the first objective which is safety and protection from dust, moisture, scratches and drops.
